Florida Fishing Reports, summer patterns
|
Well spring was a big blow this year. What I mean by this statement is that the wind seemed to blow 15-25 or higher every day just about. This weather pattern is all but over as the summer trades will be changing to calm winds in the morning to easterly tradewinds by the afternoon with afternoon thunder busters as well.
This is my favorite time for fishing.Very early starts in the morning I will start the day throwing my favorite top water lure along mangrove shorelines or docks in search of snook and gator trout. This is where presise casting is a must. There's nothing worse as to quietly working around someones dock at "O" dark thirty and to hit a boat moored on the dock or hit the roof of someones boat house with ones lure. Alot of my customers want to catch a big snook at this time of year but there casting abilities are not up to par. The only thing I can help you with before booking a trip and tangling up with Mr. Snook is to practice your casting at home. Take your favorite top water lure and remove all the hooks from it. Go outside your home and cast to everything that could relate to structure like your hedges around the house, or your trash can, well you get the picture. PRACTICE,PRACTICE and PRACTICE!!!!
I know it's been some time since I last posted a report but how can you write about gale force winds each time and very little to brag about. This is about to change fast. Drink plenty of water, keep a good watch out for thunder storms approaching and wear sun screen and above all have fun.
