Well, this is an exciting time we are comming into for the freshwater bite. Bass will be starting to stage onto shallow areas adjecent to deep water getting their beds ready for the spawn to take place. Last week showed signs that it won't be long as we boated a bass that went close to 8 pounds and her belly was ready to bust. This cold front should get them to feel that the time is near and if we get mother nature to help us a little it will make it easier for us.
When we get a cold front and the water dips into the low 60's they will back off from spawning , but if a warm up occurrs and the water temps get into the upper 60's for some time they will get on their beds close to a full moon period and will be easier to catch. This is the time when the bigger bass will be caught.
Lures that I like to use are small floater /diving ones ,Gambler's Ace worms and Rattle Traps. |
